Shakespeare Songs in Concert is an hour-long opera concert of contemporary art songs that combine song text from Shakespeare's plays with original music composed by Donna Kendall Stearns. Eleven Shakespeare plays are represented in this evening, including The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twelfth Night. The featured singers for this program are Erin Cronican, Janice Hall, and Gregg Lauterbach. They will sing text that composers throughout four centuries have set their music to, including Desdemona's heart-wrenching Willow Song (sung by Ms. Cronican), Orpheus (sung by Ms. Hall), and Who is Silvia (sung by Mr. Lauterbach), all accompanied by the composer Ms. Stearns.

This free concert will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25th at 6:30 pm at The Jefferson Market Library, 425 Avenue of the Americas (at 10th Street in the Village), in the library's Main Theater. By subway: A, C, E (blue lines) & B, D, F, M (orange lines) - Subway stop is West 4th Street station (with an 8th Street exit).
