Artistry, Education and Excellence in the Performance of Shakespeare since 2004
Saturday, January 29. 1:00 PM.
New York Public Library, Inwood Branch
Admission is Free! And there's no cover charge,
but there is a two book checkout minimum...
The Shakespeare Saturdays Sign-Up is for all actors - all are welcome! There are no auditions
for this event. The format is similar to open mic at cabaret clubs where you just show up
and say you wanna sing a song. So, on Jan. 29th, you can show up at The Inwood Library to
sign up to perform any Shakespearean scene, monologue, sonnet, etc. of your choice and see
your colleagues' work too. It's a perfect opportunity to test out a new monologue in front
of an audience or to practice a polished monologue before an important audition - or bring
in a fun scene that you and a friend would like to perform. 6 minutes stage time is given
to each performer (so you can perform 2 monologues if you like as long as they don't exceed
6 minutes). The only requirement is - it all has to be Shakespearean.
We're making this Jan. 29th launch special and it will be a Shakespeare Sign-Up like you've never seen before! Eric Vetter of "No Name... & A BAG O' CHIPS" fame (www.nonamenyc.com)
will be the emcee! You've seen him around town emceeing and singing, he's one of The Big Bangers singing and noodling on
"Up, Up, Up in the Sky"
on iTunes, and he's performed in nearly every Shakespeare Saturdays concert, and now we're so happy to welcome him aboard to emcee this launch!
And what will Artistic Director Jason Kendall and Executive Producer Donna Stearns be doing? Jason will greet you at the door as you sign up and he'll give you an Index Card to fill out so that Emcee Eric can introduce you. And Donna will be at the keyboard.
We hope to welcome and meet new actors and hope to see familiar Shakespeare Saturdays alums.
Mark the date! It's gonna be fun!
