Presents

Jason Kendall, Snapper Bear Studios, The American Dream Party and Genesis Repertory Ensemble present....

NYC Theater SLAM

Where the door and the art is yours....

The SLAM wishes to thank all people who made this event possible. The four nights of the SLAM were an accumulation of great theater, great people and great networking. All involved deserve a huge number of kudos for their work, time and perseverance under extremely difficult situations.

Someday, I'd like to do this again, but I need a theatrical venue which will accept this format and allow the integrity to stand as it is, which is the zenith.

I leave the pages below in their original format for others to copy and steal. If more of these kind of performances occur, more actors and playwrights and directors will get paid. Thanks again,
Jason

Jason Kendall says: Thanks, Jorjeana! In fact, Jorjeana was an amazing performer and her one-woman show will go a long way. Often with this kind of show, we get weary rather quickly of the style, however, Jorjeana's wit, intelligence, pluckiness and light-heartedness make her show completely work. I am proud to bring her back for a return engagement on June 2.

Comments: This play ( which had multiple performances through two weeks of the festival competition, and wass included in whole as the 3rd scene of the expanded version that got produced) consistently got laughs from all kinds of audiences. It requires very little in terms of stage set up( just a chair or box to sit on) , lighting, etc. , so I think it would be great for this kind of showcase.

He wrote this book two or three years after he finished "The Basketball Diaries", prefacing it by saying that after having done everything he could, that should have left him dead, and he still finds himself alive, might as well write another book of diaries.
Promotional: I'm an actor. I was once told that the I'm fascinated by things that are disturbing. I say, sure, why not. But really, I have compassion even for the world's freaks, and I'm not afraid to make a fool of myself. (I don't have much acting creds yet, since I started fairly recently, so I'm writing this fluff.)
Comments: This monologue is twisted and thats what the people want! But it is also rife with human kindness, guilt, humor, and compassion, and sometimes thats what the people want too...I hope.
